The February 2011 issue contains an eclectic mix of news and articles from around the globe. A special report documents the recent changes in Iran's energy prices and the effects they will inevitably have on the country's glass industry.

Another report from GI's Czech correspondent, Lubomir Sedlák, focuses on the glassmaking activities of the neighbouring Slovak Republic, while we are privileged to see the first edition of GMIC written by its new Executive Director, Robert Weisenburger Lipetz, MBA.

In terms of production technology, features this month cover annealing, quality control and batch plant among others. Meanwhile, a review of the recent and unanimously successful second edition of Glasspex India in Mumbai is included.

The December/January 2011 issue contains a range of features to take Glass International into the new year. The two predominant themes are surface coatings and furnace repairs and rebuilds; both of which include informative articles.

John Henderson gives an introduction to coatings for glass, noting how practices have changed over the years. Valued GI contributor, N Sesha Prakash, gives a comprehensive overview of both hot and cold end coatings for glass containers, while float furnace repairs are the focus of articles by SSOE and TECO.

Additional articles in this issue cover batch handling, in the form of a new system from Nikolaus Sorg, refractories and forming. Meanwhile, Alex Gurov reports from Moscow on GlassExpo 2010.

The November 2010 issue contains a dedicated exhibition review of Glasstec 2010, featuring an overview by organiser Messe Düsseldorf, as well as highlights of what was on show at various exhibitors' stands at this year's unanimously successful event.

The issue also focuses on the broad themes of raw materials and glass decoration, and includes a comprehensive selection of articles relating to both. A report detailing the current market situation for the main raw materials for glassmaking is provided, while a more focused article homes in on the recent fluctuations of the worldwide soda ash industry. In the world of decoration, meanwhile, developments are moving with the times to accommodate the growing demand for environmentally friendly inks and flexible application methods, as many of this feature's articles describe.

A preview of Glasspex India 2011 looks at what's in store for the second edition of this popular exhibition, while a profile of globally established supplier Grenzebach charts the rise of the handling, processing and automation specialist as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
