Glass International September 2014

Welcome to the September 2014 issue of Glass International. It's a bumper issue that will be distributed at the forthcoming glasstec event in Dusseldorf.

As ever the issue is packed with a combination of company profiles, industry overviews and technical features that contain the latest innovaions from the glass industry.

It kicks off with an exclusive overview of Sisecam's recently unveiled new research centre, where Sisecam's President of Research and Technological Development, Prof Dr Sener Oktik, outlines its work.

Other company profiles include an overview of Syrian manufacturer MCGI, which despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle Eastern country, is still managing to produce glass containers.

Decoration has become an all-important topic within the industry and some of the biggest manufacturers provide technical features in this issue.

Owens-Illinois (O-I) explains how its Alloa decoration plant has benefitted from some of a €30 million pound investment at the facility, while SGD discusses how it has adapted to meet the curent demand for customer differentation.

Meanwhile UK manufacturer Beatson Clark discusses how some of a recent £10 million investment has been spent on decoration at its Rotherham, UK plant.

As the countdown towards the Glassman Europe event in Lyon begins, there is a special overview of all the main French glass container manufacturers.
