Ardagh’s North American glass division has launched its 64oz Growler pail.

Pubs, breweries and grocery stores around the country are cashing in on the growing popularity of growlers, a term that dates back to the 19th century when fresh beer was carried from the local pub to one’s home in a small galvanised pail.

According to BeerAdvocate, the Growler term originated from the sound CO2 made when it escaped from the lid as the beer sloshed around, making a growling sound.

Ardagh’s Growler has a three-finger handle for gripping ease. Additionally, it has a fill-line capacity indicator, noting the appropriate 6% headspace allotment to help prevent overfilling.

Manufactured in the USA, Ardagh Group’s 64oz amber glass Growler is available for purchase on Ardagh Group’s BOB site (BuyOurBottles.com).

“When purchasing Ardagh Group’s 64oz Growler, consumers are supporting American made products while helping thousands of middle-class US manufacturing jobs thrive in a global economy,” said Clint Gawart, Director of Beer Sales for Ardagh’s North American Glass division.

“We are proud to operate an environmentally friendly business while manufacturing sustainable products right here in the U.S.”

Many craft brewers choose to package their products in glass. By using glass bottles, beer is preserved in a non-porous and impermeable container, maintaining the beer’s integrity.
