China Glass 2016 takes place at Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre on 11-14 April 2016 and will occupy seven halls.

The event is organised by the Chinese Ceramic Society and the exhibiting area will cover more than 800,000m2.

More than 800 glass companies from 29 countries are expected to participate.

The glass industry has confronted multiple pressures, including excess capacity, slow development of new products and a structural contradiction between supply and demand.

The flat glass industry’s development has slowed due to rising labour costs, and environmental constraints.

Despite this, sales have gone well for this year’s China Glass event, with the area for domestic companies sold out.

So far 564 domestic suppliers have taken booths, including North Glass with a 1200m2 stand as well as Triumph Engineering, Land Glass and Shanghai SYP Glass.

More than 200 international exhibitors will participate including Glaston, Bystronic, Dip-tech, Kuraray, Lisec and Vesuvius.

The overseas foreign pavilions will be the same size as last year and include Bottero and Intermac of Italy, Henry Teichmann of USA and Grenzebach of Germany.

New companies represented at the event include Entec from Kazakhstan, Soytas and Best from Turkey, Ardakan and Kaveh from Iran, SGS from Indonesia, Durst from Singapore, India’s Heat and Glass Service from the Czech Republic.

China Glass 2016 is the 27th event since it was launched in 1986. It has become one of the largest events in the industry and is regarded in the same vein as the glasstec event in Duesseldorf.

The Chinese Government has strictly requested the glass industry to reduce its excess capacity and decrease its energy consumption.

It means Chinese companies are anxious to buy energy–saving and consumption reduction technology.

It is expected that at this year’s exhibition will feature technologies relevant to the low-carbon economy, energy conservation and emission reduction.

2016 is the beginning of ‘The 13th Five-Year Plan’ of the Chinese glass industry.

Under this ‘new normal’, is the implementation of a series of strategies including: ‘One Belt and One Road’; the Beijing-Tianji-Hebei Economic Band; the Yangtze River Economic Zone; and ‘Made in China2025’.

It is expected that they will greatly advance China’s glass industry.

It is expected that China Glass 2016 will not only be an exchange platform for assisting China’s glass industry as it transforms and develops, but also a chance for global glass businesses to trade, technology and cooperation.
