Gillinder Glass’ glass science lab has added another melting furnace.
Bart Winkler, chief science officer, said the 3000°F high-temperature Deltech furnace would ensure the second quarter releases of its new speciality glasses being simultaneously developed by its R&D team.
Fred Harding, chief financial officer, explained, “We are developing new glasses in concert with international customers — not only in the aerospace and industrial/commercial markets, but also for emerging applications in technology, food service, and medical fields.
“We will always manufacture globes, domes, lenses, and prisms, but we see these new products as potentially paradigm shifting advances.”
Charlie Gillinder, president, added: “The addition of another melting furnace not only expedites our response to new opportunities, but further enhances our flexibility and capability to support our customers from development through ramp up, and then through the balance of the products life cycle.”
