Guardian Industries has signed a joint development agreement with Infinite Edge Technologies (IET) to commercialise IET’s warm-edge spacer system, InfiSpace.

With the signing of the agreement, the companies will work collaboratively to introduce the newly developed spacer system into the global marketplace. Warm-edge spacers are low conductance spacers that reduce heat transfer at the perimeter of an insulating glass unit (IGU), typically where condensation forms in cold climates. They have become increasingly important in saving energy and reducing mould-causing condensation.

At Glasstec 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany, Guardian Group Vice President Scott Thomsen confirmed the company’s purchase of the first automated application system designed to use the InfiSpace system.

The equipment is expected to be operational at one of Guardian’s fabrication facilities in early 2011.
