O-I’s Schiedam plant in the Netherlands has begun construction of a new dust filter.

The construction process consists of several stages. The first visible step was on Thursday, November 26th with the placement of a 60-metre high, slender chimney. Since then construction has started on the dust filter, which will be fully operational in March 2016.

O-I Schiedam plant manager Jeroen Pol said: “This investment shows that the Schiedam site can look to the future with confidence.

"The new dust filter complies with all environmental and sustainability requirements and ensures that sulphur (di) oxide emissions are reduced by almost half and the dust emissions will be reduced by more than 90%."
