PPG announces improvements to PV glass

PPG Industries has improved the solar transmittance of its Solarphire PV photovoltaic glass to help enhance the performance of solar energy collection components manufactured with this glass.
Solarphire PV glass features ultra-low levels of iron for high transmittance across the entire solar spectrum, as well as a glass chemistry designed to increase solar transmittance in the near-infrared band.
In thicknesses of up to 3.2mm, the glass transmits up to 91% of total solar energy. It is also available with anti-reflective and corrosion-retardant coatings to satisfy the specific performance requirements of component manufacturers.
