Saudi Arabian Glass Company (SAGCO) has invested process control systems at its Jeddah manufacturing plant, commissioning Quantum Forming to supply five of its Quantum TFA systems.
In March 2011, the supplier installed the first of the units on Line 42, an Emhart Glass refurbished 12-section triple gob AIS machine. The machine is producing 28 – 70mm containers using Quantum Forming’s narrow neck press and blow (NNPB) technology.
The four IS machines at SAGCO’s plant will also be equipped with Quantum TFA for NNPB and blow & blow (B&B) production with process control. The units can be maintained via a private internet link direct to the USA, where Quantum Forming is based.
The TFA system incorporates a human interface concept, as well as live reporting of the electronically enhanced sections, allowing SAGCO’s specialists an insight into the hidden forming process. It combines full stroke read-out with intended electronic timing commands, resulting in real-time information.
Additional hot end sensors are being added to provide performance enhancement in pressing loading and cooling of the NNPB and B&B processes.
