Glass International Issue
June 2019

June 2019

This month's issue has a Spanish feel with interviews from two major figures in the glass industry.

We speak to Profesor Alicia Duran, who gives her first interview since being named this year's Phoenix Award Glass Person of the Year.

She discusses her career in detail and highligts some of the major projects she has worked on during her 40 years in the Spanish glass industry.

We also interview Spanish tableware manufacturer Vicrila, which is undergoing a €17 million transformation at its Bilbao site.

Electric Glass Fiber UK was named company of the year at last year British Glass Focus awards. Steve Keeton and Phil Eccles discuss some of the initiatives the Wigan-based company has been involved in.

We highlight some of the work the newly formed Glass Recycling Foundation will focus on in the United States while our technical feature this month is on the batch plant.

Soda ash supplier Newport Industries recently unveiled an £8 million handling facility in LIverpool, UK and Glass International was one of the first to attend.

The issue also contains articles from Heye International, MSK and Vimec as well as regular contributions from John Henderson, British Glass and John Parker with his popular History column.
