Welcome to the November 2013 issue of Glass International.

In this issue we have a review of the recent Phoenix Award, where we were lucky enough to meet with this year's worthy winner Mr Somany. Mr Somany has achieved great success in both his contribution to the industry and to his community, and the feature makes for a great read.

We also have profile features on Abividro, Iris Inspection Machines, and Pneumofore, which has recently celebrated its 90th anniversary.

Technical features this month include articles on energy efficiency, mould equipment, furnaces, and control technology. We also have a variety of features focused on aspects of the flat glass industry, with an emphasis on toughening.
