October 2014

Welcome to the October 2014 issue of Glass International.

This month we have an exclusive interview with Phoenix Award winner G Clinton Shay, who discusses his life's work with Corning Inc.

Mr Shay, who is the co-inventor of the Fusion Glass Process that is today used on countless LCD television screens, mobile/cell phones and tablets, discusses the highs and lows of how the process was finally embraced by the public.

German pharmaceutical manufacturer Gerresheimer celebrates its 150th anniversary this year and we focus on how the company has evolved from humble beginnings to a multi-national company with 11,000 employees.

Glassman Asia takes place in Bangkok, Thailand in September next year. We have an overview of the Thai market and how energy drinks are fueling the glass industry in the country.

This month's technical section includes papers form Mogensen, the Food Packaging Forum, and Hygear and Celsian.

We also have several papers related to Furnaces. All this plus regular columns from ICG, British Glass and John Henderson as well as the roundup of news.
