AES Solar, a subsidiary of AES Ilumina, has announced that production of a 24 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) plant is set to begin in summer 2012. It is thought to be the first utility-scale system in Guayama, Puerto Rico.
Global Energy Services will act as the primary construction contractor on the project and AES Ilumina will sell all of its output to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
