Approximately 30 jobs are under threat at AGC Glass Europe’s Moustier-sur-Sambre facility in Belgium.

The flat glass manufacturer told staff at an extraordinary works council meeting on Tuesday it was restricting activities at the site.

“A reduction in staff is envisaged in order to reposition the plant at a higher level of competitiveness,” it said.

The factory is suffering from the drop in demand on the European glass market.

Its managers want to ‘reposition it at a higher level of competitiveness’, in particular with fewer fixed costs.

Out of 630 workers, 34 jobs are expected to disappear.

The plant mainly produces flat glass for AGC's processing plants and subsidiaries and its distribution network, as well as coloured glass, pyrolytic coated glass and laminated glass.
