This National Apprenticeship Week, British Glass is encouraging employers to highlight the contribution made by their apprentices by nominating them for a Glass Focus Award.
The Glass Focus conference and awards dinner will take place at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, this May.
The awards are FREE to enter and open to everyone in the glass industry – whether you’re a British Glass member or not.
The deadline for this year’s entries is 17.00 on Weds 6 April 2016.
Last year’s Glass Focus Apprentice Award went to Tom Cross at Encirc (pictured).
Engineering Manager, Declan Ryan, said at the time: “No job is too big or too small for Tom.
“He follows instructions and direction from his peers with no issue, and he is more than capable of thinking for himself and confident in his ability to make decisions to complete tasks to the highest possible standard.
“Tom’s attention to detail and time management are incredible and not attributes you would normally associate with young apprentices.”
British Glass, through the government’s ‘Trailblazer’ initiative, is developing demanding new apprenticeships for the glass industry, in partnership with key stakeholders.
Gareth Jones, British Glass Operations Manager said: “We want the glass industry to be held up as a leader in training and skills development, modeling a template of best practice that other manufacturing industries in the UK will follow.
“I'm really looking forward to reading about this year’s Apprentice awards nominations.”
