Nikolaus Sorg & Co has launched an integrated system for batch handling at the furnace. The concept comprises three components – the batch preheater, a new batch charger from fellow Sorg Group member EME Maschinenfabrik and a new doghouse design.
The batch preheater incorporates two features to prevent clumping of the batch, which represents a common problem with such installations. EME Maschinenfabrik’s SPC batch charger offers a high level of flexibility without the need to move the machine. This enables the complete sealing of the doghouse, which reduces external dusting and prevents the uncontrolled ingress of cold air through the doghouse.
Meanwhile, the doghouse concept is designed to limit internal dusting while accelerating initial melting.
