UK glass packaging manufacturer Beatson Clark has promoted an experienced member of its team to Distribution Manager.

Liz Loonam has worked at Beatson Clark since 2013 when she began her career in distribution administration.

Since then, Liz has continued to provide excellent service to the Rotherham-based manufacturer’s customers, leading to her promotion last month.

“I’m thrilled to be continuing my journey with Beatson Clark as Distribution Manager,” said Liz.

“The team have always been very supportive, offering clear progression routes through my career.”

Among other duties, her role entails liaising with hauliers to ensure the best transport rates, arranging and scheduling deliveries, completing internal reports, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the distribution process.

Sustainability is a key focus for Beatson Clark, and Liz has been addressing this through logistics capabilities.

“Where possible we always work to ensure multiple deliveries are completed in one journey in order to keep our carbon footprint and emissions low,” she said. “Our products are created sustainably so we understand that they must be transported sustainably too.”

Prior to working at Beatson Clark, Liz served for eight years in the Royal Logistics Corps of the British Army, delivering supplies to the front line in Afghanistan where she gained first-hand experience of the transport and logistics sectors.

This insight has proven invaluable when tackling the problems posed by Brexit and Covid-19.

“Brexit in particular has been challenging for the distribution sector,” said Liz. “The transport and driver shortages were challenging, and we had to broaden our pool of hauliers to fill the gap.

“Luckily we have a great team here at Beatson Clark, including 12 forklift drivers at our Rotherham site who work tirelessly to ensure every delivery is packaged and loaded on time ready for distribution.”
