Ciner Glass has signed a machinery equipment contract for its container glass plant at Lommel, Belgium.
Construction is progressing at speed at the Lommel facility.
The site will host two furnaces, with a production capacity of 650 tpd.
Each furnace will feed four production lines consisting of two 8+8 triple gob tandem machines and two 10+10 triple gob tandem machines.
Ciner has selected the following providers to help construct the plant:
- Bottero – for the hot-end equipment (acting as the project leader).
- Lahti Glass Technology – for the batch plant.
- TecoGlas – for the furnace.
- E2Pack – for cold end packaging equipment.
- Tiama – for the inspection machines.
By 2027, two furnaces will be in operation at Lommel with a total capacity of 1,300 tpd.
This results in 430,000 tonnes of glass produced annually, and over 2 billion glass bottles.
Ciner Glass plans to invest over €600 million at Lommel, making it one of the biggest foreign investments in Belgium in the last ten years.
It will also create more than 500 direct jobs and help serve the European glass market.
This investment will not only support economic growth but also contribute to a cleaner planet.
Mr Gökhan Şen, CEO of Ciner Glass, said: “Our aim is to transfer the know-how we have nurtured in Park Cam to Belgium, with the latest clean-glass technologies, to produce sustainable, lightweight glass bottles.
“This will mean we can offer products with a low carbon footprint for our supply chain partners, end customers and the growing global glass markets.”
The lightweight bottles will also be produced with minimal energy consumption.
