EME successfully upgraded the batch plant at Encirc in Elton, UK to feed the increased capacity of the new 900 tonnes per day furnace.

After performing an audit on site to define the needs of the glass manufacturer, EME identified opportunities to improve the cycle time and determined new equipment that was critical for the upgrade.

The batch plant was modernised with the installation of this critical equipment. The control system was modified to reduce the cycle time in order to guarantee the increased feed to the new furnace.

Another challenge that was overcome was feeding batch to the second furnace continuously during the batch plant upgrade.

EME also extended the cullet return system and now 12 of its scrapers are in operation at the container glass manufacturing facility.
