The Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management (ACR+) has published a report for the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE), which announces that separated waste collection schemes should be widely supported in order to build a circular economy for glass packaging.

The report states that efforts should be put in place to use resources more sparingly across Europe, as well as increasing recycling rates and the quality of collected glass.

It concludes that only by collecting glass bottles and jars separately, will the result be both a higher quantity and quality of post consumer glass (cullet) availability, which can save resources to make new packaging.
