The Furnace Solutions 2024 conference will focus on the glass industry's road to sustainability.

It has issued a call for papers for speakers who would like to present at the event.

Next year’s conference will again explore the challenges the industry faces as it moves towards a NetZero future.

The Melting and Technical Committee of the Society of Glass Technology (SGT) is pleased to confirm that the 2024 Furnace Solutions conference will again be held at the Totally Wicked Stadium, home of St Helens Rugby League Club.

Like last year, the event will be a two-day conference, and will be held on the 5th and 6th June 2024.

Attracting attendees from the UK, Europe and the around the world, the conference offers an opportunity to highlight issues and opportunities, as well as showcasing practices and technologies for the glass industry.

As part of the conference, SGT hopes to be able to offer a tour of the new Glass Futures facilities.

The 2023 conference was well received, attracting over 100 delegates.

The programme included papers on UK government support, glass producers’ experiences and plans, raw materials, refectories, melter developments, fuel switching, and hydrogen, plus panel discussions on cullet and electric melting.

The Michael Garvey Award for the best paper was won by Sven Roger Kahl from Ardagh Glass.

The Geoff Evans Dinner will take place on the Wednesday evening in the Totally Wicked Stadium.
