Gerresheimer’s plant in Tettau, Germany, which manufactures glass products for the cosmetics industry, has recently increased its production capacity of approximately 50 million units, to 650 million units per year.

This has been achieved through the modernisation of a glass melting furnace with a melting capacity of around 90 tonnes per day and a 55m2 melting zone, plus an additional production line. It took 150 specialist staff 46 days to build the new furnace and the investment has created around 30 new jobs.

“Our customers not only expect us to produce glass in first-rate quality, but also to be highly innovative and deliver excellent results. The new oxygen melting furnace is a milestone for us. It enables us to increase our production capacity and to set new standards of quality, productivity and environmental friendliness,” said Bernd Hoerauf, Chief Executive Officer of Gerresheimer Tettau.
