Gerresheimer has closed its Millville, USA plant.
The German pharmaceutical glass packaging company said it had closed the plant as part of a company-wide consolidation of the company’s manufacturing across North America.
Its Millville glass plant made an array of glass products and pharmaceutical bottles.
In January, more than 100 employees working in the largest area of the factory were laid off.
“It’s been with great honor and professionalism that we terminate this plant,” said Norman Angel, vice president of US operations for Gerresheimer.
“The people have been wonderful. I can’t say enough. We’ve been very productive and have had high-end production right to the end.”
The company will operate six moulded glass plants worldwide. Its manufacturing in North America will be done in Chicago. Gerresheimer also has glass plants in India, Germany and Belgium.
