The Italian Competition and Market Authority (AGCM) decided to extend the deadline for the conclusion of the proceedings on the price increases of hollow glass to 31 December 2025.
In October 2023, the Antitrust Authority began an investigation into the glass companies: Berlin Packaging Italy, Bormioli Luigi, O-I Italy, Verallia Italia, Vetreria Cooperativa Piegarese SocietĂ Cooperativa, Vetreria Etrusca, Vetri Speciali, Vetropack Italia and Zignago Vetro.
It carried out inspections last year
The deadline for the conclusion of the proceedings was previously set for December 31, 2024.
It was extended due to the complexity of the case being analysed also due to the abundance of documentation acquired in the files, the high number of parties involved and the multiplicity of conduct to be examined’.
It said: "The need to fully process the information contained in the acquired documentation was considered, while at the same time guaranteeing the parties to the proceedings the widest possible exercise of the right of defence and the full deployment of the adversarial process."
