Decarbonisation technology implemented at Verallia’s Cognac, France glass manufacturing facility will be discussed during a conference paper.
The paper at Glassman Asia in Bangkok in February will present the benefits and challenges of the all-electric melting technology implemented by Fives at Verallia’s Cognac plant in 2024.
The paper, titled 'Decarbonised technology for the glass industry' will be provided by Andrew Reynolds, Fives Business Development Director, will also provide an analysis of hybrid technology.
He will describe how green solutions are now available to glass manufacturers, including electric and hybrid furnace technology.
The choice of technology depends on the project requirement, each option imposing restraints as well as benefits.
All-electric melting provides the most energy efficient solution, yet cannot be easily applied to some glass types; hybrid furnaces provide greater flexibility at the expense of zero emissions.
The organiser is still accepting submissions for conference papers for Glassman Asia.
