Guardian Industries has equipped its new glass processing plant in Rexdale, Ontario in Canada with automated seaming and batching equipment from UK supplier Ashton Industrial.

The plant incorporates high-speed seaming of random glass sizes, direct from the cutting line. During the seaming process, Seek&Find controls automatically locate the glass edges and register their dimensions. A programmable logic computer (PLC) calculates the glass sizes compared to the furnace conveyor bed area and builds multiple-row batches for toughening. The batches then pass through an automated washer dryer.

No contact is made with the upper glass surface and coated glass remains untouched.
