Glass manufacturer Hindusthan National Glass & Industries (HNG) of India has selected Emhart Glass as its supplier for a major greenfield development at Naidu Peta, as well as for an extension of its Nashik plant.

HNG, which supplies domestic clients in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage sectors, chose the forming equipment specialist after an extensive comparison and benchmarking process. The company initiated its project at Naidu Peta, situated in the state of Andrah Pradesh, in response to rising demand for food and beverages in the region.

The plant’s flint glass line will have a daily capacity of 700 tonnes. Emhart Glass will contribute four 4 ¼ inch triple gob 12-section AIS machines, as well as two BIS machines which, it claims, represent a new concept in glassmaking.

The supplier is also providing machines and equipment for HNG’s expansion project at its Nashik site in Maharashta, where a second furnace of approximately 700 tonne capacity is now being built. The Nashik factory was acquired in 2005 and currently operates one furnace and four manufacturing lines, with an installed capacity of 390 tonnes per day.

For its expansion, Emhart Glass will deliver six 4 ¼ inch triple gob 12-section AIS machines. The pneumatic forming machines are, according to the supplier, suitable for the narrow neck press and blow (NNPB) process employed by HNG.

The total value of the two contracts is approximately €29 million. Both projects will begin production during the first quarter of 2012.
