Glass Technology has contracted Horn to supply a solar glass furnace to its new production facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The 300 tpd line will be equipped with the latest Horn technology and is designed to produce low-iron solar glass with anti-reflective coating.
The line will be operational in the second half of 2025.
The glass factory will be set up from scratch in the UEA on a surface of 10 hectares.
The facility will create about 150 new jobs in Al Ghail Industrial Zone, UAE.
In this greenfield solar glass project, Horn is responsible for everything from the supply of raw materials over the hot end to the cutting line and storage technology.
The solar glass production plant is equipped with the full processing technology for the front and back glass of solar panels.
Horn is also responsible for the technology of the factory.
The delivery of the process equipment, its installation, supervision and commissioning will be executed by Horn.
As a manufacturer of flat glass equipment for the hot end, Horn supplies the melting technology and the cast glass rolling machines with the associated automation of the system.
The roller annealing lehr, cold end and the solar glass processing technology is supplied by partners.
The overall technological planning is done at Horn’s headquarters in Germany.
