Huaxing Glass Chairman and Founder, Dr. Li Shen Hua, was finally honoured with the 2020 Phoenix Award last week.
He was named Glass Person of the Year 2020 by the Phoenix Award Committee (PAC) but due to global COVID travel restrictions, the PAC had been unable to present him with the award earlier.
The award recognised his leadership, which has seen Huaxing Glass grow from a small factory to the largest group producing container glass in China.
The PAC also selected Dr Li to receive this year’s Phoenix Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the glass industry and his leadership in pollution reduction in China.
Dr Li was among the first to respond to the call to reduce industrial pollution in China.
Dr. Li's recognition marked the 50th award bestowed by the PAC, making it particularly significant.
PAC members travelled to Xiamen, China, where Kevin Lievre, PAC Chair for the year 2020, personally present the Phoenix Glass Bird (crafted from Steuben Glass) to Dr. Li.
The award ceremony took place at a banquet held in the Waldorf Astoria in the Xiamen Peninsula coastal area.
