India’s Finance Ministry has imposed an anti-dumping duty on soda ash imports from China, European Union, USA, Iran, Pakistan, Kenya and Ukraine.

This anti-dumping duty will last for five years, the Revenue Department said.

Soda ash is an essential ingredient in the manufacture of float, container and speciality glass.

The petition seeking an anti-dumping probe on soda ash imports from these seven countries was filed by the Alkali Manufacturers Association of India.

The Revenue Department has now imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty ranging from $2.38/tonne to $38,79/tonne depending on the producer and country of exports.
