Indian textiles company Arvind Ltd has commissioned a new manufacturing facility to manufacture glass fabrics in India.
It has formed a JV with German company PD Fibre Glass Group for the facility is situated at Santej, India. The JV formed in December 2011 has a 51:49 equity paticipation and will cater to the requirements of energy, automotive and infrastructure sectors.
The Ahmedabad-headquartered company forecasts its technical textiles to be a $1bn business in 10 years. Arvind manufactures fabrics for fire retardants, filtration and personal protection.
The Satej facility will manufacture 30,000 tonnes of fabric after five years. The majority of production will be exported.
