Flat glass processing group Lisec has completed the acquisition of fellow Austrian company Schraml Glastechnik.
Schraml Glastechnik was established in 1963 as a glazier’s workshop and is based in Großraming.
Its general manager, Horst Schraml, took over his father’s company 22 years ago. It is known for its know-how in terms of the processing of flat glass. The company has expertise in the field of drilling and milling in particular. Several hundred plants made by Schraml are installed worldwide.
Othmar Sailer, CEO of the Lisec Group, said his company would gain massive know-how in terms of processing as a result of the acquisition and would spur its recently established business unit ‘Glass Processing’.
“Mr Schraml will not only remain the general manager of this company, he will also be head of the business unit glass processing. He is the right partner for us: he is familiar with the customers’ needs, has successfully developed and sold highly specialised plants and he is well connected.”
Mr Schraml said: “I am happy that the cooperation with Lisec has come about in this form. Due to industry 4.0 a complete network of the machinery was unavoidable. Moreover the production part ‘processing’ hasn’t been in the centre of attention of flat glass processors so far.
"But in the future it will play an important role because of economic reasons. Another reason is that the globalisation requires a larger sales structure which is only economic with a wider product range.”
