The Mordovcement group of companies plans to begin creation of a float glass plant in the Republic of Mordovia, in Russia in 2014.

According to the regional government the plant will cost RUS 8.5 billion ($241.2 million) and its capacity will be 250 million m2 of glass per year.

Besides the factory there are also plans to start manufacturing high quality optical glass for solar panels and alternative energy

"In 2014, it is necessary to embark on such a major project, as production of architectural float glass. Supported by the Russian president and will be financed by Vnesheconombank," the regional government said in a statement.

The business will create approximately 1035 additional jobs.

Mordovcement is one of Russia’s largest cement producers in Russia and was founded in 1975. The share of enterprises accounted for 60% of the total production of building materials in Mordovia.
