O-I Glass looks set to close its Barcelona, Spain glass manufacturing facility.
Its 168 staff were told the bad news at 10am (CET) today.
In an official letter they were told that an official consultation period will begin on February 6 and will last for 30 days.
It says: “The Management of Vidrieria Rovira (O-I Barcelona), informs you of its decision to initiate a collective dismissal procedure under the terms provided for in article 51 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of October 23.”
It adds: “The collective dismissal is based on productive and organisational causes, and will consist of the amortization of 168 positions.
"This procedure takes place because, after analysing the concurrent causes, the company has determined the need to close its production and the warehouse at the Barcelona work centre."
