One of the UK’s leading brewers of premium bottled ales, Marton’s, has introduced smaller bottle sizes designed and made by Owens-Illinois (O-I).
The company has launched two new 330ml glass bottles for its Wychwood and Marston’s ales respectively, which mirror the shapes of the brands’ half-litre bottles.
O-I’s designers developed both bottles within tight parameters. Paul McLavin, Sales Manager at O-I, said: “Both bottles are made at 218g, their optimum weight using lightweight glassmaking technology, and to the same height and diameter to ease filling changeover times.
“The increase in sales of glass-packed ale contrasts to the continued decline in the canned ale sector as consumers trade quantity for quality,” he added.
