Glass Technology Services is hosting a free online webinar series from the 1st March on pharmaceutical packaging.

The three talks will offer guidance to drug producers and pharmaceutical glass manufacturers on how to ensure their selected packaging is fit for purpose.

The webinars will run every Tuesday at 11am (GMT) for three weeks from the 1st March to the 15th March.

The series, titled Pharma Glass Recalls: Causes and Preventative Measures, will have one talk in each key area: glass cracking and breakages, drug product and glass interaction, and glassware that doesn’t conform to dimensional specifications.

These areas were selected as they are the most common causes of product recalls that the company is asked to prevent.

59 product recalls between January 2014 and July 2021 were cited as specifically related to glass packaging materials.

Glass Technology Services believes it is critical that the correct packaging is selected for the product it contains, as the consequences of pharmaceutical product recalls can be severe.

Amy Ashton, Chemistry Laboratory Manager at Glass Technology Services, said:

“We’re really excited to share our expertise around this topic. It brings together the key points to help inform and guide those involved in packaging selection in the pharmaceutical industry.

This is also the first time we’ve chosen a series of topics which spans over multiple departments in our business and is definitely something we are keen to do more of in the future.”
