RS International Ceramics Supplies Co (RSICS) – a producer of high-temperature bar codes – has developed a system of serialised bar codes that can be applied to glass substrates and ‘fired’ onto the surface, giving a permanent, scratch, chemical and heat resistant bar code.
A glass ceramic ink system, coupled with the serialisation of the bar code, creates a cost-effective waterslide decal for application directly onto the glass item.
High-temperature bar codes can be serialised to customers’ required size and code and integrated into their existing IT system.
Already being successfully applied in the production of sanitary ware, where the firing temperature is more than 1200°C, the codes can yield valuable information on product tracking and operative performance, through to warehousing, stock control and, finally, to ‘in-service’ stage.
