Pilkington has unveiled its £36 million off-line coater to customers this week.
The coater, at the Company’s Cowley Hill site in St Helens, is one of the most advanced facilities of its type in the world and is due to start operation in November.
It enables ultra-thin special coatings to be applied to glass, creating a range of energy-saving glazing products.
It will allow the group, owned by NSG, to manufacture a wider range of products in the UK. Cowley Hill will also meet demand from across Europe as well as the UK market.
Glass International will also feature an article on the coater and details of the operations at the UK plant in an upcoming issue.
