The 2022 winner of Netflix’s Blown Away series will provide hot glass demonstrations at an event this weekend.

Elliot Walker, this year's UK-based winner of the glass-focused TV show Blown Away, is one of the participating artists at the Melting Pot: Hot Glass Gathering this Friday and Saturday (March 18 and 19).

Other participating studios are Wave Glass in Murano, Italy and the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The symposium at Plymouth College of Art is part of the UK’s celebrations for the United Nations International Year of Glass, as well as the Crafts Council’s ‘Make! Craft! Live!’ 50th anniversary season.

Beginners and professionals in glass, as well as members of the public, are invited to experience hot-glass demonstrations and lectures, in person and remotely, with some of the most exciting artists working in glass today.

Plymouth College of Art is one of the few remaining Higher Education institutions in the UK where glassblowing techniques can be studied, making the event a unique opportunity to see the art form in person.

The event will also feature regional collaborations in England with the Contemporary Glass Society (CGS), which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022.

Tune into the livestream from the college's Hot Glass Studios on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 March here.
