PPG Industries has announced that it has shipped 120 million square feet of Solarban 70XL glass.
According to the company, the glass, which is triple-silver-coated, solar control, low-emissivity (low-E) glass, has been installed on more than 1000 buildings in North America, including approximately 160 that have been documented for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the US Green Building Council.
Introduced in 2005, Solarban 70XL glass has a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.27 and visible light transmittance (VLT) of 64%. It has a light-to-solar gain (LSG) ratio of 2.37, which according to the company; remains unsurpassed more than six years after its introduction.
