Saverglass Group will build a new furnace in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it has announced, in a bid to strengthen its position in the market.
“In 2013 and 2014, two ovens within the group will have to be interrupted for repairs or reconstruction,” said Jacques Parissaux, Director of Alphaglass. “This will cut our production of 35,000 tonnes per year for two years. Now it is unthinkable to deprive us of this size.”
Saverglass also plans to strengthen its position in the standard bottle market, according to Mr Parissaux. “Our business relies on bottles of very high quality for brandy, whiskey and other spirits,” he said. “We also develop a segment that assures us of the volume where we take orders for several million bottles over several years to ensure constant activity over time. Finally, we want to present standard bottles to our distributors, although it is not profitable for us under the present conditions,” he added.
