The Society of Glass Technology (SGT) held its annual dinner dance in December 2010, gathering a total of 241 people, including 40 SGT members, in spite of adverse weather conditions across the UK.
During the evening a special presentation was made to the SGT’s Honorary Secretary, Rosemary Sales, who has contributed some 60 years to the glass industry, dedicating a great deal of time to the SGT.
Mrs Sales joined the Society in 1950, becoming a Fellow in 1969 and, subsequently, an Honorary Fellow in 2001. In 1977 she was appointed Honorary Treasurer of the Yorkshire Section; a title that she holds to date.
A member of the Chemical Analysis Chemical Durability Committee between 1987 and 1990, Mrs Sales has also enjoyed two terms on the SGT Council and one as SGT Vice President.
Mrs Sales’ lifetime of service to the glass industry and the SGT was recognised with the presentation of a special medal.
