Tata Chemicals, part of the $67.4 billion Tata Group, has announced a major re-branding initiative to incorporate its subsidiaries in the UK, USA and Kenya under the Tata Chemicals corporate brand.

The move is intended to create a common global identity for the soda ash producer and to strengthen the Tata Chemicals brand across the globe.

With effect from 1st April 2011, the following corporate brand transition will take place: General Chemicals Industrial Products becomes Tata Chemicals North America; General Chemicals (Soda Ash) Partners becomes Tata Chemicals (Soda Ash) Partners; Brunner Mond (UK) becomes Tata Chemicals Europe; Magadi Soda Company becomes Tata Chemicals Magadi; and Brunner Mond SA becomes Tata Chemicals South Africa.

R Mukundan, Managing Director of Tata Chemicals, said: “This signals an important milestone in the evolution of the Tata Chemicals brand, where close to 40% of the current consolidate revenues come from outside India.”

DeLyle Bloomquist, President of Tata Chemicals’ Global Chemicals business, added: “We will now be able to more effectively leverage our businesses as one of the largest and most geographically diverse producers of soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and salt.”
