The Center for Research, Technology and Education in Vitreous Materials (CeRTEV) has opened applications for postdoctoral fellowships at São Carlos, Brazil.

The fellowship will require applicants to conduct fundamental research over two years, starting in April-June 2019. It will also be renewable for two additional years upon mutual consent.

Post-doctoral research will be focused on fundamental investigations by Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulations, NMR and in-situ, high temperature Raman Spectroscopy of structural links to kinetic processes (including diffusion, viscous flow, relaxation, phase separation, crystallization) in super-cooled liquids of interest to glass and glass ceramic science.

The researchers are expected to conduct the post-doc activities in one of the joint CeRTEV laboratories. It will be supervised by one of our Principle Investigators in close collaboration with the other CeRTEV researchers and students.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials, Science or Engineering. Other requirements include previous experience with computer simulations, Raman Spectroscopy or NMR, and a genuine interest in conducting interdisciplinary research in an international environment. Previous experience in glass science, solid state physics or chemistry is advantageous. The language requirements are English, Spanish or Portuguese.

The monthly fellowships are non-taxable and include ca. BRL 7,300, plus 15% professional expenses, such as travel. Its post-docs from Canada, Russia, Iran, India, Colombia, Pakistan and Brazil typically spend from BRL 2,500/month. Travel expenses to and from their home countries will also be covered.

CeRTEV launched in 2013. The Functional Glasses and Glass Ceramics research is provided by: the Federal University at São Carlos (UFSCar), the University of São Paulo (USP) and the State University of São Paulo (UNESP).

Applicants must send their applications, including CVs, list of publications, a two-page research proposal, and the names and email addresses of two senior references by March 20, 2019 to the following persons: Prof José Pedro Rino (MD Simulations) at and Edgar D Zanotto at Prof Paulo Sergio Pizani (Raman Spectroscopy) at and Prof Hellmut Eckert (NMR) at Applicants can also contact Laurie Leal at
