Glass manufacturer F Glass started its new float furnace in July 2009, using a flex injector from FlammaTec.

The float furnace, at F Glass’ manufacturing plant in Magdeburg, Germany, is designed to produce float glass as well as low-iron and very low-iron glass for solar applications.

The injector has been designed using extensive mathematical modelling by FlammaTec’s parent companies, Glass Service of the Czech Republic and STG Cottbus of Germany.

Two separate gas inlet controls allow flexible flame control, even with a constant total gas input per injector.

The furnace also uses an enhanced control system and oxygen sensors, allowing it to operate energy efficiently. Its energy consumption since it started is less than 5.2 MJ/kg, with NOx emissions of approximately 800mg/m3.
