Nearly 360 people attended the 40th ASEAN Glass Conference, which was this year held in Hua Hin, Thailand.

The event was hosted by the Glass Manufacturers Industry Club and the Federation of Thai Industries (GMFTI), who expressed their thanks to all visitors and sponsors of the event.

The conference was held from 17-20 October 2016 with about 360 participants from 25 nations in five continents.

These composed of delegates from the companies in the glass industry (manufacturers, machine suppliers, service & engineering companies and raw material suppliers) as well as their spouses and accompanying persons.

Of the visitors, 50 of those who were participating for the first time and 20 were participating in excess of 20 times.

About 140 AFGM members attended.

The conference included nine technical papers from companies including the UK’s Graphoidal, Japan’s Nihon Yamamura Glass, Holland’s Xpar Vision, France’s Vertech and Italy’s Glass Service.

The conference took place in sombre circumstances following the recent death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.

Delegates were requested to wear black or white shirts and evening entertainment activities were more muted than in previous years.

The AFGM conference is an annual event which takes place in a different South East Asian country each year. Next year’s event will be held in Vietnam.
