Glass appreciation course will be held at British Glass in Sheffield, UK

  

A course named ‘Glass appreciation – an introduction to glass’ will take place at British Glass on 24th April 2018 in Sheffield, England.

This glass appreciation course is ideal for glass designers, sellers, makers, processors and re-users. It will offer a broad understanding of the material, its life cycle, how it behaves and why, as well as its vast possibilities.

This one-day course will take place from 9:30am – 4:00pm. It will be delivered by experts from Glass Technology Services Ltd and covers essential topics from; manufacture, processing and basic chemistry to properties, defects, failures, recycling and quality.

The theoretical and practical sessions on the day will highlight key points such as: what is glass, a brief history of its manufacturing, its properties, composition and melting, its colouring and decoration, different types of glass including annealed, toughened or tempered, its forming, pouring and casting, sustainability and recyclability, as well as its strength, handling, defects and failure.

Located in Sheffield on 24th April 2018, the course will cost £425 for British Glass members and £550 for non-members.
