Horn Industries secures container and float glass contract in Turkmenistan

Horn Glass Industries has secured a major contract with a Turkmenistan float and container glass manufacturer.

It has signed a contract with Messrs. Tepe to provide a complete, turnkey production plant to produce float glass and container glass bottles.

The Horn planning staff will be responsible for everything, from the supply of raw materials via the batch house, melting aggregates and tin bath up to the cutting line and storage technology.

The new line will be set up out of nothing on a surface of 240,000m² and will comprise a 250 t/d float glass line as well as a 50 t/d container glass production plant. This huge plant will satisfy all float and bottles needs, since the industry does not exist yet in the country.

Horn will be responsible for the complete technology of the factory. The container line will operate and produce 95 million bottles per year by 2017. Float glass production with an annual capacity of 8 million m²/year will start in September 2017.

About 600 people will work in the glass sector of the factory, 700 more staff will find work in auxiliary production. The contract also includes training of these workers, since there is no trained personnel in this field in Turkmenistan.

Bottles from the factory will be ready in time for when Turkmenistan hosts the 5th Asian Games.
