Spanish container glassmaker Vidrala reported sales of €822.7 million in 2017, a 5.1% increase from the year before.

Operating profit, EBITDA, was €195.4 million, an increase of 14.5% over the figure reported last year.

It stated that the growth in sales was a result of the development of the business in line with its strategic guidelines as well as a positive contribution of the immediately accretive acquisition of Santos Barosa.

Vidrala acquired Portuguese glassmaker Santos Barosa in October last year.

In its financial report for the year 2017 Vidrala stated there is a growing trend among consumers for glass as the packaging material of choice.

As a result, it expects earning to grow in 2018, thanks also as well to management priorities that are focused on internal actions aimed at improving customer service, progressing in manufacturing efficiency and materialising the synergies expected from the recent acquisition.

Vidrala has manufacturing plants in Spain, Portugal, Italy and UK.
