US architectural glass fabricator Viracon is to re-open its Statesboro, GA manufacturing facility.

Employees will return to work and production will resume on August 13. Viracon has spent $6 million over the past six months refurbishing the facility’s equipment and infrastructure to ensure it maintains performance for the next construction up-cycle.

The renovation of the Statesboro facility included 16 specific capital upgrades and all major pieces of equipment received extensive maintenance. The coating process was streamlined to improve its performance, capability and reliability.

The building’s roof was also replaced and the HVAC system updated to yield a more controlled environment, resulting in a cleaner facility.

Approximately 90 skylights were installed to enhance natural lighting in specific areas of the factory and to reduce energy use during the day.

Viracon’s Statesboro facility will bring its work force back in three phases, concluding in late September. An opening ceremony will be held in early October.
